The weekend of November 4 to 6, 2022 will be the 11th edition of the Blading Cup in Santa Ana, California. In the fall of 2021, a large Solo Inline delegation attended the 10th edition of the event, which is held in sunny California. What emotions we experienced there when we saw one of our local athletes, Lauric Picard, qualify for the final of the "Open" division. He had clearly seduced the crowd and he managed to win the event thanks to his skills and his determination!

Discover the 5 reasons to be excited for the next edition of the Blading Cup in the rest of this article.

Reason 1: The 11th edition is the biggest yet

The Blading Cup has seen great growth since its first edition in 2012, posting its highest participation rate this year. 300 athletes from more than 20 countries, 30 supplier booths and an XX of sponsors already make this event a great success.

The organizers have really succeeded in making it one of the most important gatherings in our sport, skillfully combining the competition aspect, the trade show portion and the activities intended for visitors. Whatever drives the interest in inline skating, we find our account in this event.

Reason 2: Lauric is back to compete

A year after winning 1st place in the "open" category, he is back to compete against the Pros this time around. Anyone who's seen him skate in the last few weeks has noticed how he's at the top of his game. In his interview on Jan Welch's YouTube channel, he even mentioned that his motivation is pumped up this fall since he is sponsored by Roces. We can't wait to see him perform!

Lauric is registered for the mini-ramp and street competition, in the pro category. These two competitions will be held on Sunday, November 6, at noon and 3 p.m. (PST) respectively.

Those who have consulted the list of participants have also noticed that Matt Garrity, a skater from Montreal now based in Ottawa will be competing. Matt will participate in the street competition in the "open" category which will be held on Saturday, November 5 at noon (PST). There is also Evelyn Sifton from Ottawa who will participate in the street and mini-ramp competitions.

Reason 3: Solo Inline will be present again

Solo Inline is a partner of the event in several ways this year. Our summer event, the Montreal Cup, qualified for the Blading Cup. In fact, skaters who made the podium in the pro category were automatically eligible for the pro category of the Blading Cup, thus offering them a chance to covet a purse of at least $20,000 this year.

Solo Inline is also a official event sponsor and will be represented on site by "David from Solo Inline". David will take the opportunity to forge links with other important players in the world of skating. Whether it is to find athletes who will come to participate in the Montreal Cup in the future, to meet suppliers to unearth the latest innovations and to bring new products to the store, the owner of Solo Inline will be very active around the course and in the kiosks. !

We are also expecting several new announcements. Follow us on social media and subscribe to our newsletter so you don't miss the summary that we will post following the event.

Reason 4: Content will be available on our social networks

During the weekend, we will broadcast as much content as possible on our social networks, especially on our instagram. Live broadcast of the competitions, visit of the kiosks, discovery of the novelties and meeting of the actors of our industry, stay on the lookout to not miss anything!

Reason 5: There will be a bit of a Blading Cup in Montreal

Solo Inline is fortunate to be part of the launch of the Careen video shot by XX, a collective from New York. The video will be broadcast at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 4, 6:30 p.m. at the Mariposa skatepark in Santa Ana as part of the Blading Cup, but also at 6:30 p.m. at Solo Inline in Montreal as part of the world premiere of this video. The broadcast will be followed by a skating session at the Van Horn skatepark starting at 7:15 p.m.

A little confidence in closing:

Did you know that the Montreal Cup was greatly inspired by the Blading Cup? After visiting the event in 2021, the Solo Inline team was convinced that this type of event would fit perfectly into Montreal culture, which we saw from August 12 to 14.

It will be interesting to see what the 2022 edition of the Blading Cup can inspire for the future...
